What is wye strainer
Y strainers are an essential component in numerous fluid control applications to ensure no down-stream component is affected by particles within the fluid. Sanitary Y strainer offered by Ranking Machinery, sometimes referred to as a stainless steel wye strainer, is designed to mechanically remove solids and other particles from fluids like flowing water, steam, or gases piping systems with the use of a perforated and / or wire mesh straining screen, and are used to protect fluid transfer pump. They get their names from their configuration, which includes a branch angled off the flow path.
Y strainer offered by Ranking Machinery has less debris holding capacity and higher pressure drops than basket strainers, but they can be used in either horizontal or vertical pipe in which flow is downwards. They are fitted with a blow-off connection at the end of the branch which allows for easy cleaning. The vblow-off connection can be opened without shutting off the flow or disassembling the strainer, as the flow through the pipe will flush out the solids in the filter screen.
The filter rating or filter precison can be made to order. To protect the downstreen liquid transfer pump (like centrifugal pump, rotary lobe pump, screw pump, double screw pump), a 100 mesh filter ratiing is good enough. For sauce, paste, puree with small particles, users can choose a Y strainer with perforated screen (3mm standard) without wire mesh straining screen.
When there is no special requirement, we will provide both perforated strainer screen and the wire mesh straining screen to users.
